Multicultural action plan report

The Department of Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works Multicultural Action Plan reporting for 2023-24 against the Queensland Multicultural Action Plan 2022-24 (PDF, 363.68 KB), outlines how the department contributes to the Queensland Government’s multicultural policy – ‘Our story, our future’ through the Queensland Multicultural Action Plan.

The policy focuses on 3 priorities for people from culturally diverse backgrounds and for Queensland as a whole:

  1. achieving culturally responsive government
  2. supporting inclusive, harmonious and united communities
  3. improving economic opportunities.

Our department contributes to these priorities through four of the six key actions from the Queensland Multicultural Action Plan 2022-24, namely:

  • Recruitment and workplace culture
  • Culturally responsive services
  • Cultural diversity data
  • Interpreters and communication strategies

The Multicultural Recognition Act 2016 requires all government agencies to report publicly on their actions in the plan. This allows the community to track how the government is achieving positive change, and provides a picture of where we need to make changes to investment or services.
