About youth research grants

In 2022, the Queensland Government partnered with Queensland universities to deliver the Youth Research Grants.

The grants encouraged research that reflected the needs and perspectives of young people, empowering them to shape research priorities and projects.

Seven Queensland universities led research initiatives involving young people under 25 from diverse backgrounds and study areas. Projects explored current and emerging issues across four key topics:

  • climate action and the environment
  • future foods
  • sustainable communities
  • wellbeing and health.

The program supported over 80 research projects across Queensland, engaging more than 750 young Queenslanders in meaningful, youth-focused research.
